Openings

Thank you for your interest in the Mobile, Intelligent, and Networked System (MINSys) Group @ HKUST CSE, lead by Dr. Xiaomin Ouyang. I am always actively looking for strong and self-motivated students! Currently, We have multiple Ph.D./ M.Phil. openings for strong candidates starting in Fall 2025. I encourage you to reach out early to ensure consideration. I also have several research internship positions opening starting anytime (typically for at least six months). The successful candidate of PhD will be provided with a full scholarship (220,320 HKD annually). Excellent candidates can be nominated to apply Hong Kong PhD Fellowship (331,200 HKD annually with extra allowance) starting in Fall 2025. Major research topics:

• ML for IoT: address real-world data and system challenges for advancing AI in mobile/IoT systems.
• Smart Health: design and deploy real-world AIoT systems for personalized health monitoring and intervention.
• Mobile Sensing: enhance sensing quality with physics-strengthened AI techniques.

Eligibility:

• Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields from well-known universities in mainland China or worldwide.
• Have solid skills in system programming and prototyping.
• Have at least one research experience or published paper as the main contributor in deep learning or sensor data processing.
• Highly self-motivated and with good communication skills.
• Fulfill English Language requirements of HKUST, i.e., TOEFL (iBT): 80, or IELTS: Overall score 6.5 and all sub-score 5.5.
